Tuscany on the border of Emilia – Romagna.
The village of Palazzuolo sul Senio was founded in the Middle Ages in 1373 having a rather curious history. Situated in Tuscany in the countryside of the Province of Florence, not too far from Florence itself, geographically it is located on the border of the region Emilia – Romagna. Therefore one gets the best of “two worlds”, all that Tuscany has on offer mixed with the friendly hospitality and culinary wonders of Emilia – Romagna. This is reflected in nearly everything, from an architectural point of view, the food, the wines, the landscape and lots more, in particular its people.

The accommodation “Locanda Senio, an Albergo Diffuso.
This 3 star hotel is at the centre of this fantastic background; in the past it was an inn, hence the name “Locanda”. It is situated in an old Italian historical Palazzo. Not all its rooms, suites and even apartments are in the same main building as they are all “spread-out” in the old part of the borgo, the medieval part of the village. The Italian word “diffuso” in fact means spread-out, hence it is called an Albergo Diffuso.
Ercole and Roberta are the owners and they run their place as if it is their home; therefore they will make you feel not only at home but in a warm and homely environment including being part of an Italian village
Breakfast is rich if not abundant and one can enjoy all the local products; Ercole will always be available even when you are making your own fresh omelette or fried eggs during breakfast. At the same time, Roberta might be picking the herbs, vegetables and fruits which she uses in her own local dishes. Everything is freshly made, for example the home-made pasta. During the morning you might be driven by Ercole to the top of the mountain to subsequently have a nice long walk back to the village. Afterwards you can have a drink on the terrace or in the garden, have a swim or just relax in the wellness centre. Or why not enjoy a cooking lesson with Ercole or just having a chat with some locals on the main square of Palazzuolo.
Dinner is served in the cosy restaurant often with the roaring open-fire lit and weather permitting, dinner is served outside on the terrace. All products are local and dishes fresh if not hand-made like the pasta.
So come and visit us to enjoy our “Slow Life” and “Slow Food”.
